Internal combustion engines run on a variety of fuels: gasoline, diesel, liquid propane gas (LPG) or compressed natural gas (CNG). The main benefit of IC forklifts is its ability to be REFUEL on the fly: just fill it up at a gas pump or a new LPG cargo boat and its forklift is ready to continue working in no time. Their prices are the inverses of electricity are cheaper to buy initially, but cost more per hour to run.
Only IC forklifts are able to handle larger - if you require more than 15,000 pounds of capacity, definitely need an internal combustion engine. IC forklifts also against certain types of abuse better than the electric lifts - specifically, using a forklift to push or pull loads, instead of lifting and driving - and usually have better acceleration and higher speeds.
Of the types of engines, fuel costs are generally higher for gasoline and the lowest for diesel, LPG somewhere in the middle. Fuel costs vary considerably from state to state, so you should investigate this cost in your area before deciding which option is best for you.
With some teams IC, a considerable extra expense for the recharging of equipment - gasoline and diesel require you to have storage tanks and pumps. LPG requires only a space for the storage of spare tanks, which is usually administered by a vendor of propane. The choice between gas, propane and diesel is often based on the vehicles and equipment.
For indoor / outdoor use, duel fuel systems are available that allow you to switch between LPG and petrol.
Other options for fuel
The wave of the future is in the power of fuel cell hoists. Hydrogen fuel cells have the advantages of electric power - zero emissions and quiet operation - plus the ability to be REFUEL as soon as diesel or petrol engines, without recharge time. Experimental fuel cell lift trucks are already in use, and begin to be available more widely in the coming years. By Bargain Trader
