Forklift fuel options

The two main options for feeding their electric forklift are - powered only by a battery on board - or internal combustion (IC), which uses a traditional engine that runs on one of several types of fuel.

Electrical

Electric forklift are powered by large, heavy lead-acid batteries - the same type found in his car, but considerably larger and more powerful. The batteries typically provide enough power for a standard eight-hour shift, which translates into 5 or 6 hours of continuous use.

There are two main advantages of electric power forklifts. One is producing zero emissions - if you're going to be through its elevator interior, this is a very important consideration. Of the internal combustion models, only propane-powered lifts can be used indoors, and require very good ventilation. Gas and diesel models can not be used at all.

The other main advantage is price of fuel. Electric lifts have a lower cost per hour of operation than any of the models of internal combustion. This helps to offset their disadvantages - its highest initial cost. New electric forklifts can cost 20% to 40% more than similarly rated IC forklifts.

Additional benefits include electric forklift quieter operation - a big advantage inside - and not the needs of fuel storage. Because they have fewer moving parts and are often used in environments cleaner than IC trucks, but they also tend to have a longer lifespan.

The biggest drawback of electric forklift from the battery is idle. The burden of a forklift truck battery is 8 hours, plus 8 hours of cooling time before it can be used. Due to this slow speed of loading, if you need forklifts for two or three foreign exchange, you will need to buy extra batteries so that it can always be the burden of the next.

Other disadvantages include the need for a battery charge. Shippers must be located in a dry, ventilated and temperature-controlled location. If you have multiple batteries, will also have special cranes to change the batteries. Electric forklifts are also not suitable for outdoor use - while you can use in a well-paved parking, can not be used in the rain.
